It all began today part 2

My training is going well. I have been riding two times per day this weekend and i can feel it in my legs, a sense of accomplishment combined with pain, but right now pain is good. Why you may ask and my answer is that i can take the pain now and a for another 2 weeks leading up to my first race, by then i will have enough power to be able ride without any problems.

My training have been great with good weather and not so much wind. Great for exploring the countryside and to test how far and fast i can go. Much of the training has been endurance, since that is a essential part of making the 43km and the 70km races i have in the end of August and early September. Another part of the training has also been speed and maintaining that speed over a long time. I’m trying to find a rhythm that suites me and where i am comfortable riding.

Investment
I have not yet found that rhythm, but i’m getting there. I justed to be able to make a 70km varied course in about 1hour 45min before i quit, but that was on a Canyon Speedmax 3 bicycle, now i have a modified mountain bike. A big difference is weight and aerodynamics. I’m planning to buy either a Canyon bicycle next year or buy a Merida or Nishiki this year, even next month if i find any reasonable priced ones.

The first thing i’m going to buy, by the end of August is a cycling computer, i’ve found one that i really like and it has heart rate monitor, incline, altitude, speedometer and much more. It’s cheap as well. It will be a good tool to see how my performance improves or in worst case decreses.

Future plans in terms of racing
I searched the Internet yesterday and found a few races that i’m interested in for the 2008 season. They are different types of races within different disciplines of cycling. Listed here :

  • Hallandsloppet - 100km - Early May 2008 in Halmstad, Sweden
  • Ramenrundan - 90km - Early May 2008 in Eskilstuna, Sweden
  • Kvarnrundan - 70km - Mid May 2008 in Mjölby, Sweden
  • CyckelCity GranFondo - 80km
  • Halvvättern - 150km - 8th June 2008 in Motala, Sweden
  • Gammelkils Triathlon - 18km - July 2008 in Gammelkil, Sweden (Swimmer & Runner wanted for a relay team. I’ll do the bike section!)
  • Vasatrampet - 88km - Mid August 2008 in Mora, Sweden
  • Mjölnarrundan - 65km - Mid August 2008 in Mjölby, Sweden
  • Roxen Runt - 83km - Late August 2008 in Linköping, Sweden
  • Glan Runt - 70km - Early September 2008 in Norrköping, Sweden
  • Hedebytrampen - 90km - Mid September 200 in Trosa, Sweden

I reserve the right to change next years program, if events happen on the same day or one day apart, then i will only do one of them.

Time to get ready for a little bike ride, i will take this one in a easy tempo, no rush, since i want to be able to walk tomorrow.
