Slipknot - Surfacing

Sometimes there are songs that really connects with your emotions at the time you listen to them and you feel somewhat connected to the words or the anger that the singer or the band give out in their performance.

This track from Slipknot really does that, but then again a lot of their songs really connect with me in both good and bad ways. This track however is for me a rebel song of sorts and also a “leave me the fuck alone” type of song. It get your blood working and you really get pissed off in the process. It’s anger and hate moulded into a very effective weapon delivered with accuracy by Slipknot.

Lyrics :

Running out of ways to run
I can’t see, I cant be
Over and over and under my skin
All this attention is doing me in!

Fuck it all! fuck this world!
Fuck everything that you stand for!
Don’t belong! don’t exist!
Don’t give a shit!
Don’t ever judge me!

Picking through the parts exposed
Taking shape, taking shag
Over and over and under my skin
All this momentum is doing me in!

Fuck it all! fuck this world!
Fuck everything that you stand for!
Don’t belong! don’t exist!
Don’t give a shit!
Don’t ever judge me!

You got all my love, living in your own hate
Dripping hole man, hard step, no fate
Show you nothing, but I ain’t holding back
Every damn word I say is a sneak attack
When I get my hands on you
Ain’t a fucking thing you can do
Get this cause you’re never gonna get me
I am the very disease you pretend to be

I am the push that makes you move

The video for the song :

Philadelphia by Neil Young

Such a beautiful song which brings out the tears. It is featured in the movie Philadelphia at the very end of the movie. It’s one of the strongest movie endings and it will make you cry. If it doesn’t, then it’s something wrong with you and not me. I just love the emotional vocals by Neil Young and the very emotional piano in this song.

Lyrics :

Sometimes I think that I know
What loves all about
And when I see the light
I know Ill be all right.

I’ve got my friends in the world,
I had my friends
When we were boys and girls
And the secrets came unfurled.

City of brotherly love
Place I call home
Don’t turn your back on me
I don’t want to be alone
Love lasts forever.

Someone is talking to me,
Calling my name
Tell me I’m not to blame
I wont be ashamed of love.

Philadelphia,
City of brotherly love.
Brotherly love.

Sometimes I think that I know
What loves all about
And when I see the light
I know Ill be all right.
Philadelphia.
