I thought i would give it a try and run a little experiment with Slipknot as the base for poetry. I just got this idea that if i took parts of songs written by Slipknot and made totally new versions and maybe, just maybe, even improving them a bit, making them darker and more gloomy then their original state.
I’ve selected these three tracks to be the basis of my experiment :
- Diluted from the album “Slipknot” (1999)
- Everything Ends from the album “Iowa” (2001)
- The Blister Exists from the album “Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses)” (2004)
The parts taken from these three tracks, mentioned above, are random, but selected in such a way that they play of each other. Especially to create a feeling or a mood. The original tracks themselves are dark and moody, but the experiment itself is to make an even darker and even more moody type of lyrics. Hopefully i will succeed.
Okay, here we go :

I’m always confused by everything

Fix my problems with the blade
While my eyes turn from blue to greyBones in my water and dust in my lungs

I mark the trails on my arms with your disdain
Thoughts of me exemplified, all the little flaws I have denied
Forget today, forget whatever happened
Everyday I see a little more of overall deficiencies
I’m nothing short of being one complete catastropheI save all the bullets from ignorant minds
Your insults get stuck in my teeth as they grind
My flaws are the only thing left that’s pure
Can’t really live, can’t really endure
I decrease, while my symptoms increaseI keep my scars from prying eyes
Incapable of ever knowing why
Somebody breathe, I’ve got to have an answer
Pick me apart, then pick up the pieces
I’m uneven, I am the damaged one
Why am I so fascinated by bigger pictures, better things ?
But I don’t care what you think
You’ll never understand meDo I even need a reason to hide ?
That’s it. It might be better if i’ve chosen some other lyrics expect the ones mentioned above, but it was still worth the try. Maybe i’ll do another experiment later on, with another artist or band, just to see what can be created. Maybe i will draw something up with lyrics from Britney Spears, just for the fun of it, just to fuck things up even more. Who knows, Britney Spears might just have really good lyrics, even though i seriously doubt it.
Anyway, i hope that you liked this little experiment with some Slipknot lyrics and hopefully you will check out the real lyrics by the band for comparison.
