Like tears in the rain

The wonderful lyrics of Like tears in the rain by Covenant is set to a raw and hard background. It creates an emotion when you listen to, even without reading the lyrics, simply by listening.

The track itself was released a few years back (in 2000 on the album “United States of Mind”), but still to this day i get really emotional when i listen to it. It sort of represents something that might be true and even a believable thought that things are this way. A untold story of anyone’s life or their own views about themselves compared to actual events. A gloomy view upon life for sure.

Lyrics :

Go to the Empire State and watch the city lights
Hear the noise of millions struggle in the sprawl
Stare into the sky, we’re few and far between
Black eyes full of stars, wide with memories

Every street I ever walked
Every home I ever had
Is lost

Every flower I ever held
Every spring I ever had
Has died

Every man I ever knew
Every woman I ever had
Is gone

Everything I ever touched
Everything I ever had
Has died

Lie down in the park and watch the satellites
Hear the children sing just a breath away
Dance in the heavy air along the interstate
Black lung full of fumes, choke on memories

Every street I ever walked
Every home I ever had
Is lost

Every flower I ever held
Every spring I ever had
Has died

Every man I ever knew
Every woman I ever had
Is gone

Everything I ever touched
Everything I ever had
Has died

The video (made by a fan, not Covenant) :

Mindphaser

Mindphaser,  classic track from 1992 with Front Line Assembly. A track so ahead of it’s time and a video that actually won “Alternative Video Award Of The Year” on MTV.  I like the rawness sound of this track, then they lyrics, even though the lyrics are really good. Somewhat timeless, but today they might mean more to people then in 1992 when it was released on the album “Tactical Neural Implant”. A sort of horror scenario painted in black with silver lining or at least a black trim.

A classic track and a very classy video.

Lyrics :

“Jesus…had days like this”
“Cyborgs - cybernetic organisms…”

“Machines with living human tissue and programmed to destroy”
The silence is deafening
Regression hangs in the air
A motionless world sits waiting
For new codes

A war of technology
Threatens to ignite
Digital murder
The language of machines

Mesmerised by a decade of faith
Flowers and remorse
A fading vision lost in time
Tragedy on course

Synthetic conspiracy
Masters of the human race
The mind now knows
New levels of fear

Implanted brain cells
Control is gone
We seem to believe
Truth is regression

The tension shows
The tension shows

“A quantum leap forward”
“Full OCP binary cyborg technology”
“State of the art destructive capabilities”
“Commanded by a unique combination of software and organic systems”
“Jesus…had days like this”

The target we seek
Slowly comes into sight
The countdown begins
For launch into hell

The tension begins

“State of the art destructive capabilities”

The kill is swift
It makes no sound
Aggression take its toll
Rhythm of violence
Cuts through the air
There’s no more control
The sky turns brighter, a evil red
Missiles fly through the air
Shattered dreams
Shattered hopes
There’s bodies everywhere

“Bwahahaha”
“State of the art destructive capabilities”
