Remember this day
Lately i’ve been thinking a bit about what is presented in the media and also what type of news that is news worthy. I’ve come to realize that much of the media coverage is based on assumption and unverified sources.
One thing that i find both sad and funny at the same time is the fact that the world seems to be revolving around Britney Spears and not the sun (you know that bright big yellow thing that rises in the morning). What i find particular hard to grasp is the fact that she (Britney Spears) is more important then the fact that people are dying and wars are fought all over the world and no one seems to be interested in that.
I really can’t see the point or anything news worthy with covering Britney Spears 24 hours a day and at the same time try to dig up every piece off shit they can find. Wouldn’t it be better to put forward that kind of effort into digging up injustice or cases of corruption ? The so-called journalists that find all the dirt on Britney Spears seems to be very good at their job and i think that they could do so much better if they tried to find out things mentioned above, instead of Miss Spears life.
The world is filled with corruption and injustice, but journalists find a certain celebrities life more interesting. Imaging to be a celebrity like Britney Spears or Madonna or anyone else for that matter and place yourself in a day or a week of his or hers life. I can bet that you would go mad and if you don’t you would probably do some very stupid things. I wouldn’t want to be a celebrity even for one day, even though it might have some benefits, but the downside is by far to worrying.
Here is an idea, that might not be the best one ever conceived, but it might be. What if all journalists stop covering celebrities and other alike and focus on telling the world what is actually going on and at the same time sticking to the truth. No more fabricated truths or lies, just real life depictions of life on the planet. No more coverage of pointless artists with too much money, only real life depiction and stories about real life and events. That would be real journalism.
Bad influence
Yet another Swedish poem i wrote a few years back. I’ve included a translation as well, so that you can judge which one you like more than the other.
The Original Swedish version :
Stilla stunder utan liv.
en stilla famn av roser; ett liv i misär.
formad av tidens gång; sinneslös.
Sargad av tiden och sorgen
i avund av sanningen; mitt liv
The translated version :
Silent moments without life.
A silent embrace of roses; a life in misery.
Forged by time; senseless.
Lacerated by time and sorrow
in envy of the truth; my life.
Remember together, Remember forever
Outside the window, a beautiful sight
Billions of stars, shining so bright
Planets and entities, black holes and galaxies
Asteroids flying by, closer then before
Anyone could become a tragedy
All controls are out, meaningless to shout
Rushing through it all, makes you feel kind of small
Time is running short, loosing life support…
