Cycling is life
As many of the people who read this blog, knows that i’m a bit of a cycling nerd. Some also know that cycling is also one of the best ways to train while you enjoy stunning scenery and open roads. However, my start-up this year hasn’t turned out the way i like it to.
A week ago i crashed and i took a fairly unscheduled flight over the handlebars and ended up at the hospital with torn ligaments and muscles in my left shoulder. This happened ironical enough on the way home from work., so the speed wasn’t as high as it used to be when i’m training. But, i gave me a scare and also crumbled my Glan Runt ride which was to take place on.
So now i have to look forward to 3 months of rehab and getting my muscles back to working order. It hasn’t been the best start-up, but things are meant to be fixed and i have set a goal that some would say is impossible, but i do not care. Right now my bike is at the repair shop and getting fixed. I have to change a few components and do a check-up that all things are in working order.
The current plan and road to recovery is as follows :
- Start biking in 2 weeks, slow and easy to feel how it feels
- Continue to ride the exercise bike after work
- Start my rehab exercises, which i have to do
After i have regained my strength and the ability to use my shoulder, then i will take part in a few races this summer. More on those and other things in another post.

Hello…hope everything heals soon for you!!! You have my sympathy…I was an avid cyclist for years, but due to chronic issues I can’t ride my bike any longer and I miss it terribly. Once your injuries recover you are on on your way again!!
I flew over my handle bars once but I saw it coming and was able to slow down somewhat so I didn’t have and serious injury but of course I landed on my shoulder…bruises, scrapes!
Heal well, best wishes!
Cheers
